Congratulations to our PhD researcher, Mr Robert Corbally, on winning the 1st place in the Individual Applied Project Competition organised by Engineers Ireland and Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Robert won the prize for his PhD work which focuses using a machine learning approach for drive-by condition monitoring of bridges. The competition was organised by Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to find examples of projects conducted by students across Ireland which represent engineering solutions that have been or could be implemented by industry/society. The competition was divided into undergraduate and postgraduate categories and Robert was shortlisted to present in the final of the postgraduate category on Tuesday 10th November 2020. Following online presentations by all finalists, Robert was awarded first prize for the work which he has completed since commencing his PhD studies in January 2020.
