Check out the recent publication from SDA-Lab on the use of machine learning for drive-by bridge monitoring. This is the second paper published by our PhD student, Mr Robert Corbally. In this work, we propose a data-driven approach for drive-by bridge monitoring, where the influence of temperature effects on bridge behaviour has been considered. We show that the damage can be detected at high vehicle speeds and on rough pavement surface. We have employed the contact-point response which has improved the ability to monitor bridge behaviour. Finally, we propose a damage indicator which provides a simple and robust indicator of deterioration over time.
