Dr. Abdollah Malekjafarian will lead a special issue in “the 10th International Conference on Experimental Vibration Analysis for Civil Engineering Structures (EVACES 2023)” on the title of Indirect monitoring of civil infrastructure using moving vehicles. The special session will be co-organised by Prof. Eugene OBrien from University College Dublin, Prof. Chul-Woo Kim from Kyoto University, Prof. YB Yang from Chongqing University and Prof. Hae Young Noh from Stanford University. The conference will be held in August 30- September 1, 2023 in Milan Italy.

The aim of this symposium is to bring together academic scientists and industry leaders to present their recent advances in the field of indirect structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure. It covers a broad research area from simple models to applications, numerical modelling, laboratory-scale experimental case studies and field tests. The session will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Bridge damage detection and health monitoring (highway and railway bridges)
  • Identification of bridge modal properties
  • Road pavement health monitoring methods
  • Railway track health monitoring methods
  • Dynamic interaction of trucks with bridges and roads
  • Bridge traffic loading
