Mr. Robert Corbally successfully defended his PhD thesis on 31st of March 2023. Robert’s PhD work was on “A machine learning approach for drive-by condition monitoring of bridges”. In this work he created a data-driven framework for bridge monitoring using data collected from passing vehicles.
During his PhD study, he received the Transport Research Arena (TRA) TRA VISIONS Young Researcher award (ranked 3rd), received the UCD Seed funding award, won the best student paper in bridge stream at Civil Engineering Research in Ireland Conference in 2022 and won 1st place in the individual applied project competition organised by Engineers Ireland and Institution of Mechanical Engineering.
